| When Jebsen & Co was established on 1 Mar 1895 in Hong Kong, Jacob Jebsen and Heinrich Jessen chose the four character 捷成洋行as their Chinese hong name. These have since becomes synonymous with the family enterprise, spanning three continents and fifteen countries. In addition, the “three-fish” logo serves as a symbol of the entire Group as do the common values of fair trade, equality, trust and goodwill that continue to be the drivers of the Group' s growth and success.
From the beginning, Jebsen has been acting as a bridge between continents and cultures, suppliers and consumers. A guiding principle, and much of the success of the company, is based on the teamwork between Chinese and European colleagues. This winning formula, inspired by the Chinese philosopher Mencius' creed from the 3rd century BC: “Within the four seas, all men are bothers,” serves to motivate every day still.
Jebsen' s present-day activities are greatly diversified. With a unique presence in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and South Korea, the Jebsen group of companies are able to offer market access to these vastly different economies in the business areas identified as core competencies.
Each of the business units has acquired a high degree of specialisation in order to be competent partners for suppliers and customers alike. Each team understands specific markets and “speaks the language” of the customers, be it in FMCG, consumer durables, industrial investment goods or luxury products. This specialisation in sales combined with the synergies of a larger group have allowed Jebsen to adapt to the rapidly changing business landscape in the Greater China region. By consistently reinvesting in the business, Jebsen has created a sales, service and logistical infrastructure, supported by a common enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, that is second to none in the region.
Jebsen believes a great organisation is made up of great people , and is committed to developing young graduates to be future leaders driving the business expansion. The Jebsen Management Trainee Programme aims to groom talented graduates with general management flair to assume future leadership roles by providing extensive business exposure and various junctures of personal and career development.
As a caring company, Jebsen is devoted to providing the best for employees' career development. On-the-job training, mentoring, coaching, and corporate training programmes help staff understand the diverse business both in depth and breadth. The corporate learning culture is best demonstrated through the two-year Management Trainee Programme in which graduate trainees could acquire cross-functional and geographical exposure. It is a unique opportunity that not only provides valuable career development but also personal development . |
